What to see and do in Macau

There is so much to do and see in Macau, where do you start? It's a really tricky problem if you only have a couple of days, or even just a few hours to explore. We take a look at the top things to do in Macau

If you are a bit more adventurous, and you have some extra time to spare, then you might also like to see 2 left-field things to do in Macau

Food and Drink Highlights

One of my favorite new discoveries since I went to Macau is congee. Congee is a traditional rice porridge and although very simple, it is absolutely delicious. Don't be put off by the sound of rice pudding as a savory food... if you like rice, then you might be like me and love it.

Or.... how about some brisket, tendon and tripe?

When it comes to drink, my preferred drink is a nice cold beer - In Macau, the most popular brew is Tsingtao beer - this German-style beer is crisp and clean, with a good dose of hops.

Of course, you can;t make a quick visit without trying the pork chop buns and also the Portuguese Egg Custard Tarts.

Casino Highlights

It is impossible to visit, without being aware of the casinos in Macau. If you have ever been to Las Vegas or Atlantic City, then you will most likely be interested in the differences between the casinos in Macau compared toVegas

Fans of Michael Jackson will be delighted to discover there is a museum dedicated to the king of pop. It is a small museum, but you will find some very rare pieces, including one of the famous gloves.

The museum is located right by the Micheal Jackson bar, which again, is worth a visit - it's a very pleasent place for a drink after a hard days sighseeing and they sell a couple of different beers, like Tsingtau.

Cats

Yes, we have a page about cats in Macau! Only a couple of photos there at the moment, as I seem to have lost the others I took. Rest assured, i am going to find them and post them as soon as possible!

Need a Drink?

Bars are one thing that you will not find in abudance in Macau. In fact, there is very little drinking of alcohol in the casinos, either. This is most unlike Vegas - casino players in Macau take their gambling way too seriously too enjoy a drink with their play. One great bar in the City though, very close to Senado Square, is the Cathedral Cafe Market Tavern - highly recommended!
